Commissioner O’Sullivan first appeared before the Commission as an Industrial Officer of the Electrical Trades Union (ETU), NSW Branch in 1989, prior to his appointment to the ETU’s National office. He was subsequently admitted as a solicitor and accredited as a specialist in Employment and Industrial Law with the Law Society of NSW. In 2009, he was called to the Bar, where he practiced in various areas, including industrial and employment law.
