The Hon. Justice Robert Allan Hulme was sworn in as Acting Deputy President of the Industrial Relations Commission and Acting Justice of the Industrial Court of New South Wales by President Justice Ingmar Taylor in a private ceremony on 20 December 2024.
His Honour was admitted as a solicitor in 1984 and was secretary to the Justice Wood Inquiry before working with the Legal Aid Commission and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
After his Honour was called to the bar in 1990, Acting Justice Hulme was appointed a Crown Prosecutor and later a Deputy Senior Crown Prosecutor. He became a silk in 2002 and Deputy Senior Public Defender in 2003.
Acting Justice Hulme was appointed as a judge of the District Court in 2005, and of the Supreme Court of NSW in 2009, and also sat on the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal. He continues to serve as an Acting Justice of the Supreme Court following his retirement in 2022.
