The Industrial Relations Commission of New South Wales (Commission) will commence sitting at the Newcastle Local Court every second Wednesday from 26 March 2025.
The President of the Commission, Justice Ingmar Taylor, met with local stakeholders at the end of last year.
“On the estimates provided by industrial parties it appears there is sufficient work for the Commission to sit one day a fortnight to hear matters arising in the Hunter region and further north”, he said.
“The Commission has a long and proud association with the Hunter region and I am delighted that in-person dispute hearings can continue to be listed there on a regular basis, in addition to arbitration hearings”.
The President plans to reassess the regular sitting schedule in six months, based on how frequently it is used.
Parties are encouraged when filing applications to identify if a matter is suitable to be heard in person in Newcastle. This can be done by emailing IRC.Registry@courts.nsw.gov.au.
The Commission will sit in Court 1.1 at the Newcastle Local Court, 343 Hunter Street, on the following dates:
Dates for the remainder of the year will be published in due course. For further information, please contact the Industrial Registrar on 02 8688 3551 or karen.jones2@courts.nsw.gov.au.
