The Minister for Industrial Relations, the Hon. Sophie Cotsis MP, today announced the appointments of Mr Anthony Howell and Ms Alison McRobert as Commissioners of the Industrial Relations Commission of New South Wales.
Mr Howell brings extensive experience to the role, having practised as a barrister at HB Higgins Chambers for over a decade. He previously served as Assistant Secretary of the Police Association of NSW and began his legal career at the Industrial Relations Commission more than 20 years ago, where he worked closely with three Judges over a four-year period.
Ms McRobert also brings a wealth of expertise in industrial law and public sector advocacy. She has served as Legal Counsel at the Public Service Association of NSW and the Community and Public Sector Union. Her earlier legal career includes roles as Senior Associate at McNally Jones Staff and Haywards Solicitors.
Both Commissioners will be formally sworn in by the President in chambers on Monday, 2 June 2025.
A ceremonial welcome will be held for:
President of the Commission, Justice Taylor, welcomed the appointments, stating: “Mr Howell and Ms McRobert bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Commission. Their contributions will be invaluable in upholding the integrity and effectiveness of the industrial relations system in New South Wales.”
