The Industrial Relations Commission of NSW notes the passing of former Commissioner John Stanton on 1 September 2024. Having been appointed as a Commissioner on 23 May 2005 and then as a dual appointee of the Fair Work Commission and the Commission from 2009 to 2015, John served with the Commission until his retirement on 21 October 2021. Throughout his career, John was dedicated to assisting the people of NSW and, in particular, the people of the Newcastle and Hunter Region.
The President, Members and staff of the Commission extend their condolences to John’s family, friends and colleagues.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate John’s life which will be held at Newcastle City Hall, 290 King Street, Newcastle at 10am on Wednesday, 25 September 2024. The service will also be livestreamed at pettigrew.com.au.
